This Privacy Policy describes how TypeShift ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Chrome Extension. We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected.

1. Information We Collect

TypeShift is designed to respect your privacy. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as your name, email address, or physical address.

To provide our core functionality (paraphrasing and text expansion), the extension interacts with the following data:

• Website Content & Text Inputs: When you actively use the extension to rewrite or expand text, TypeShift reads the specific text you have selected or inputted on the active webpage.
• Local Storage Data: We use your browser's local storage (chrome.storage) to save your custom text expansion shortcuts, user preferences, and to track your daily usage limits. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

The text you select or input is used strictly for the purpose of providing the extension's core functionality.

• AI Processing: To paraphrase or expand your text, the selected content is temporarily transmitted securely to a third-party AI provider via an API. Once the rewritten text is generated and returned to your browser, the original text is not retained or stored by us.
• Service Improvement: We do not use your text inputs to train our AI models, nor do we build personal profiles based on your writing.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent any of your data to third parties. Your text data is only shared with our third-party AI provider solely for the technical execution of the rewriting process.

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, or user tracking.

4. Third-Party Services

TypeShift utilizes external AI APIs to process text. While we ensure that we only partner with secure and reputable providers, the processing of your text is also subject to the privacy policies of those third-party AI services.

5. Security

We are committed to ensuring that your data is secure. All text transmissions between the extension and our AI API are encrypted over HTTPS. Because we do not store your text on any external databases, the risk of data breaches involving your content is virtually eliminated.
